Why Bowman?
This is the question I get asked the most...Why Bowman? What is it about this little town that has you so under it's spell?
For me, it's like stepping back into time, back to when life was simple. Back when my hometown of Alpharetta was small. Back when it wasn't a competition of who had the biggest house and drove the most expensive car. Back when you knew your neighbors and you stopped to chat. Back when you felt like you could make a difference. Back to the basics.
We are a very middle class family...living in a high class city. It's uncomfortable. We live simply and sometimes, it's living paycheck to paycheck. My kids go to school with teens that get BMWs as their first cars and are wearing ridiculously expensive designer clothes. That is SO not us! Not only can we not afford it but we also don't want it. We spend our money on memories, not things.
When we first went out to see the property, we fell in love. It had all our must haves: a creek to explore, a pasture view, and woods to seem like you're the only ones around. Peaceful and free. You can't reach over and touch your neighbor, heck, you can't even see them! This looks promising. We drove into the town to check it out. That sealed the deal for us.
The town square is comprised of three buildings built around 1900 with shops mostly abandoned. We got out to look at this beautiful square. A for rent sign caught my eye and my heart skipped a beat. I peeked in the giant window to see a stamped tin roof, bead boarding on the walls and hardwood floors. I look up to see the number 8 affixed above the door. My heart started racing...8 is my number. I was born on the 8th day of the 8th month in the 1980s. This was it! This was our sign from God!
