Doors Slamming Open
It's Saturday morning and we're headed to Bowman again. Addie, our 13 year old daughter, is so NOT interested in going with us so T.J., Maddox (15 year old son) and I load up into the car and make the hour and forty-five minute haul to Bowman. We had heard from our agent on Friday (finally!!) that things were looking promising but they needed final approval and were we able to close sometime next week. Yes!!
We pull into the town square around lunch time and I'm surprised at how much action is going on. When we were there the past Sunday, it was dead...like ghost town dead. This time, there's a man sitting in front of the art gallery, a guy painting a door green, and cars going in and out of the town square. I remember thinking well, this is a much different scene.
We meet with John (the owner) in the shop with the freshly painted green door to look around. I'm greeted with concrete floors, hunter green ceilings, and very light sea foam green walls and lots of antiques. The scent instantly takes me back to my MeMaw and PaPaw's old house in Clanton, AL. I love it!
We hit it off immediately with John and Lera, who has the antique store next door, and end up talking for hours. They both are great people and seem genuinely excited about me opening a shop in their little town square. As we're walking around the town square with John and seeing the rest of the square and the building, we walk into the end unit of the building. It's a little space with a tin roof, wide slab wood floors and a whitewashed brick wall. So cute and charming! John mentions how he wants this to be an Ice Cream Shop. I look over at T.J. and smile. Seriously?!
*Years ago, T.J. was the manager for an Ice Cream and Candy store in Milton. He adored that job but was let go when he was hospitalized for a week due to his DVTs. Ever since that job he's talked about opening his own.
John must've caught our look and offers him a deal we can't refuse. Looks like we're opening not one, but TWO stores in the Bowman Town Square!
Sidenote - Did I have any plans whatsoever to open a store this year? No, not in my wildest dreams! But, as T.J. mentioned in his Genii post today, we're big on the Law of Attraction and God's plan. I did post on my Facebook business page a picture of a store on January 15th and well, here we are. Mind you, every single thing that I've posted in my Goals album on my Callie's Creations page has come true..in one way or another.
